Clarity Through Movement

Beginning Before You Feel Ready

We often think clarity should come before action. First we figure everything out, then we move. However, life doesn't always work that way. Sometimes clarity arrives because we move.

Taking the first step gives us information we couldn't have discovered while standing still. We learn what feels right. We discover what needs to change. We encounter something unexpected. And sometimes we come to realize that we want something slightly different than we thought.

A path can reveal itself as we walk it.

Perhaps you've been thinking about taking a class. You don't know exactly what you'll do with what you learn, but something about it interests you. So you sign up. You take the class and you meet someone that sparks a curiosity that leads you to discover something new along your path.

Maybe you've been considering a creative project. You don't know how it will turn out, but you begin with the first page. It then blossoms into a series that brings you considerable joy.

Maybe there is someone you've wanted to reach out to. You don't know what the conversation will bring , but you send the message. Then it turns out that they too were thinking of reaching out and now you are going for a lunch date to catch up.

Maybe there is a dream you've been carrying quietly for years. You don't have to build the entire dream today. Or know the way in which it will unfold. You just have to be willing to take that step forward.

You can simply choose to begin.

Follow the Nudge

Last month, we explored intuition and the quiet ways our inner voice can ask for our attention. Sometimes that nudge is simply the beginning of an idea.

I wonder what would happen if...

I'd really like to try...

I keep thinking about...

Maybe I could...

We don't have to turn every passing thought into a life-changing decision. Some ideas come and go, and that's perfectly natural. But sometimes certain possibilities keep returning.

Ones that spark curiosity. Ones that give us energy. Or ones we find ourselves thinking about while doing something completely unrelated. These are worth listening to. Following a nudge doesn't mean knowing where it will take you. It simply means giving the possibility enough of your attention to find out.

Let Curiosity Lead

Curiosity is a wonderful companion when we don't have all the answers. It asks questions without demanding immediate certainty.

What if I tried this?

What might I discover?

Where could this lead?

What would happen if I gave this a little more of my time?

There is freedom in approaching a new possiblility with curiosity rather than requiring ourselves to know exactly what it will become.

You don't have to decide that something will be part of your life forever. You can explore. You can experiment. You can learn. You can discover that something isn't for you. And you can discover that something is.

Curiosity gives us permission to find out.

A Small Step Still Moves You Forward

Sometimes we can underestimate the power of small beginnings. We imagine that moving forward needs to look significant from the outside. A new job, a new home, a business launch, a completed created endeavor, a dream finally realized. But meaningful change often begins much more quietly.

A quiet beginning can look like opening the notebook, having the conversation, clearing a corner of your home, writing the first paragraph, researching the class, saying yes to something that matters to you, or saying no to something that no longer does.

These actions may seem small, but they change something important. You are no longer simply imagining the possibility. You are giving it some of your energy. And once you do, the landscape can begin to change.

A Ritual for Taking the First Step

If there is something you've been thinking about beginning, create a small moment to acknowledge it. Find a quiet place.

Light a candle. Make a cup of tea. Take a walk. Open your journal. Do whatever helps you settle into yourself.

Then ask:

What keeps returning to my attention?

What am I curious about?

What would I try if I didn't need to know the entire outcome?

What is one small step I could take?

What would it feel like to give this possibility some of my energy?

Don't worry about solving everything.

Choose one step.

Then take it.

The Goddess Isis Ritual Kit can be a beautiful companion for this kind of intentional beginning. The Goddess Isis Roll-On and Lapis Lazuli pendant can become sensory reminders of intuition and inner wisdom, while a warm bath with the Goddess Detox Bath Salts can offer a quiet moment to reflect before moving forward.

The ritual is a simple way of marking the moment.

I have heard the nudge.

I am willing to explore it.

I am curious to see where this leads.

You Don't Have to Feel Ready

Maybe you've been waiting for the moment when you finally feel ready. Maybe you imagine that confidence will arrive first, followed by action. Sometimes it happens in the opposite order.

We take the step. We discover that we can do it. We learn something. We take another step. And somewhere along the way, we realize that readiness was never a place we had to reach before beginning.

It was something we were building as we went.

A Moment to Begin

As September comes to a close, perhaps there is something in your life quietly asking for your attention. Perhaps it is an idea, a possibility, a conversation, a creative project, a change you've been considering, or a dream you've been carrying.

You don't have to know where it will lead. You don't have to have every step mapped out. You don't even have to feel completely ready. You can simply begin by taking one small step.

Give a little of your time, attention, energy or curiosity to the possibility and see what happens. Then listen. The next step may reveal itself once you've taken the first. The future isn't fully written. There are still things you haven't discovered, people you haven't met, places you haven't seen, ideas you haven't imagined, and possibilities waiting to take shape.

You don't have to know the whole path.

You only have to be willing to take the next step.
